Personal Finance Week in Review #49 | WorkSaveLive

Great Weekend Reading

Highlights of the Week

Now that January is officially in the books, I get to update everybody on my monthly progress! I realize a lot of bloggers don?t share this information, and there may come a point where I decide to stop, but for now it?s fun being transparent with everybody that takes part in the growth of WSL.

For starters, I?ve continued my guest posting barrage and had 3 posts featured recently. Over at Penny Pinchin? Mom I wrote about 7 Fun Ideas for Celebrating Valentine?s Day. Financial Hack featured our article on 7 Ways to Reduce Credit Card Debt and Control Spending, and My Alternate Life shared my post on Five Key Elements to Increasing Your Income.

Now for the fun stuff:

  • Total Visitors: 12,457
  • Unique: 9,078
  • Page views: 23,092

With those numbers, it means WSL saw a 16% increase in visitors and a 29% increase in page views (compared to December). WOOHOO! Nearly 33% of the visitors came from organic search results, 25% were direct visits, and 7% came from the RSS feed. I consistently keep my eyes on loftier expectations, but I was stoked to see the excellent increase in traffic for the month of January. I?m still by no means in the upper echelon of finance bloggers in the world, but 12,000 visitors is a far cry from the 100 I had only 14 months ago when the site was launched.

To top things off, WSL had it?s best month in terms of revenue! Overall the site brought in about $2,300. The most exciting part to see was that some of my affiliate opportunities started to come through as we generated over $100 in affiliate sales. That?s a little short of the $1000+ I?d like to see, but it is substantial progress compared to months past and for that I?ll put a feather in my own cap.

Have a fantastic weekend everybody!
