Fantastic Personal Development Tips That Can Work For You ...

If you would love to become a better, more complete person but haven?t a clue where to start, you are in luck. You need to keep an open mind and learn some new strategies. If you do that and apply the following tips, you will certainly meet your self-improvement goals.

Start organizing your life. Bringing structure to your life will give you a great sense of accomplishment, and living a more organized life will boost your confidence. Doing this will also relieve you of the stress you felt when things were disorderly. There is something very calming about knowing that everything is in its place.

Make sure that you have specific and tangible personal development goals. With specific goals, chances are you?ll do the things that need to be done to accomplish them. You?ll more easily handle difficult things that come your way, and help you successfully reach your goals faster.

TIP! Self-discipline is a key element of any personal development program. It is important that you refine your sense of control over physical urges.

Stress can impede your ability to be happy. When the human mind is preoccupied with a state of stress, damage can be caused to both physical and mental aspects of the body. To retain clarity of mind and the motivation to work towards our goals, it is critical to banish unnecessary stress from our minds. Set a relaxation time every single day to be alone and clear your mind. Eventually, you will learn to look forward to this peaceful time every day.

Selfless behavior is a big leap forward in your self improvement. Caring for others, and being able to sacrifice for them, will help you improve yourself and become a better person. When you can make sacrifices that lift others up without jeopardizing your own well being, you will grow into the kind of person you wish to be seen as.

Determine the things that you value so that you can better come up with an excellent personal development strategy for your needs. It is not smart to focus on things that do not line up with your values and morals. Spend your energy and time on those areas that you want to better and that mesh well with your values. By spending your time in these specific areas, you can make the changes in the areas that matter and have these changes stick with you.

Take the time to find out what parts of your life are truly important, and concentrate on doing your best in those areas. Focus on the more positive things in life because they matter. Do not focus on the negative things because they don?t matter, and you will have a lot better inner peace.

TIP! Exercise should be a part of everyone?s routine. There are many physiological benefits associate with exercise.

The realization that you deserve only the best is one of the more important things that you will need when on the path to personal development. You have no one to disappoint but yourself. You can?t have any regrets if you know that you performed to the best of your abilities.

Do not give any situation more thought, or attention than it deserves. Before you become stressed, analyze the situation. A mistake isn?t the end of the world. Most mistakes can be rectified, and many can be remedied in a way that ends up better than if you hadn?t made a mistake to begin with. A good rule to live by is to not focus on what you have lost; instead, consider what you have still remaining.

Eliminate all unnecessary stress from your life. You only create more stress than before when you over-react to negative events, and that is pointless. Accept that you cannot be perfect at everything and look for alternative ways to achieve your goals if you fail, instead of focusing on your mistakes.

Pinpoint what is getting in the way of your success. For a lot of people, this is very hard to do. In order to change problems you are having, you must identify what they are. If you get rid of the things that might stand in your way, you can find the way to clear your path.

TIP! Choose one of your most important aspects that you want to improve, and put your focus there. While there may be a number of aspects that you?d like to work on, concentrating on one aspect at a time makes it more likely that you will succeed.

Getting healthier is a personal development step that can have far-reaching positive repercussions. Good health simply makes your whole life go better. You can think more clearly, and even save time and money, by not having to go to the doctor on a regular basis. Make adopting healthier habits a goal.

Try challenging yourself as much as possible. New challenges open new possibilities for you. You are sure to learn new things while also developing new skills. Look into doing things no one has been able to achieve before. Try to think of innovative accomplishments, rather than following in everyone else?s tracks.

Find out more abut sexual capitol and how you can develop it. This simply means the ability to use your charm (not sexuality) to get what it is that you want. While social skills may be lacking in some people, every person has some semblance of charm that they can use.

TIP! Figure out your goals in life, and go after them. If you spend all your time dreaming about what you want to happen in your life, yet do little to create that life, that life will never happen.

You are now ready to use what you have learned to pursue your personal development projects with confidence. Remember that personal development is a lifelong effort to improve, and always be open to trying new things that can help you to improve.

Wishing you the best,

?

Why I Mocked Marco Rubio?s Water Fail on Twitter

By Amanda Marcotte
Wednesday, February 13, 2013 9:58 EST

?

So this happened during the speech. True story: I was about to recommend drinking more water before speaking on Twitter and right before I hit send, Rubio went for it. You could just tell that his mouth was gumming all up from nerves and he really needed a drink of water. I made much fun of this on Twitter, since the gif possibilities were endless, but had no intention of blogging about it this morning. It was, in my mind, the Super Bowl blackout of the State of the Union festivities: an opportunity to make jokes on Twitter, and nothing more. Winning the internet, like playing poker, can get your adrenaline up, but it?s important not to take it too seriously.

Apparently, focusing on this was a controversial choice. Erik Loomis accused folks like myself of being Maureen Dowd, except Twitter doesn?t actually pay me an ungodly sum a year to crack mean girl jokes, whereas Dowd, I hear, is not a volunteer for the New York Times. Raw Story?s own Roxanne Cooper suggested the howls of laughter were a bit much. So now I feel duty bound to defend all the Donald Glover gifs and Twitter ya-yas that were had over the drink of water.

1) I doubt anyone making fun actually thought that there was something terribly unprofessional about taking a sip of water while speaking. It?s not that he took a drink of water. It?s the way he did it. The panicked look in his eyes. The way you could tell that his mouth was drying up from nerves because it sounded like he developed a sudden lisp. And ultimately, the lunge. That bottle might as well have been full of flop sweat.

The thing is that Rubio was choking under pressure during the entire speech, and the water moment was the moment that crystallized it. The water moment is classic?synecdoche, which is not an uncommon rhetorical device in the deployment of humor. In the 140 character format, synecdoche is especially fun to play with.

2) I know that the assumption behind complaining about the water jokes is that they are being made in lieu of substantive analysis of Rubio?s ideas. Hell, it?s not an unspoken assumption; Erik asserts this directly.

Look, Marco Rubio is an awful guy. He wants to destroy the middle class, make abortion illegal, etc., etc. The only reason Republicans are looking at him as their savior in 2016 is that he?s brown. There?s all kinds of things to attack him on. Go for it. Tear his horrible ideas to shreds.

In theory, yes. But in order to engage someone?s ideas, it helps if they would offer them. For those of you who wisely snapped off your TV before Rubio spoke, here?s the text of that speech, which was an incoherent and contradictory set of attacks on the President that was only intended to rile up stupid people who don?t really understand much beyond how much they hate the President. His response to climate change was, in sum, ?nuh-uh!? and he kind of implied that you could trust that he?s not out to destroy the middle class because it would affect his property values. But mostly it was just reiteration of a bunch of buzz words that give conservatives hate erections, and are meaningless to anyone else. Paul Waldman gamely mounted a rebuttal, and his assessment was the same as anyone else with two working ears and common sense, calling the speech ?insipid? and ?a combination of calumny and clich? that demonstrated just why Republicans are having such problems appealing to voters?.

Next year, instead of sending one of their supposedly promising politicians up to derail his presidential hopes with a pointless rebuttal speech, I recommend instead that the Republicans put up a sandwich board filled with buzzwords??Solyndra?, ?big government?, ?job-killing?, ?more taxes?, ?moral breakdown?, ?America?s decline??and put this guy next to it:

Conveys the same message, but without sacrificing a politician?s dignity to do so. I don?t see why not. At this point, they have nothing to lose.

*Title stolen shamelessly from Roxanne Cooper.

Apple Acknowledges iOS 6.1 Passcode Bug, Fix Coming in Future Software Update

passcode_lock_keypadFollowing today's significant publicity surrounding a bug in iOS 6.1 that allows users to bypass the iPhone's passcode lock to access the device's phone functions and contacts, Apple has issued a brief statement to AllThingsD acknowledging the issue and promising a fix for it.
Reached for comment, Apple said it is hard at work on a fix. ?Apple takes user security very seriously? spokeswoman Trudy Muller told AllThingsD. ?We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.?
The company did not provide a timeframe for the fix.

Apple issued a first developer beta of iOS 6.1.1 last week, but then delivered a public iOS 6.1.1 release only for the iPhone 4S earlier this week. We suspect that Apple rushed out the iPhone 4S bug fix update and that the original iOS 6.1.1 in developer testing will become iOS 6.1.2 as it proceeds through the development and testing process.

It seems reasonable to assume that Apple will have enough time to fold a fix for the passcode issue into this next release, but it is unknown when that update will be made available to the public.

Maine seeks to reinstate Zumba prostitution charges

Gregory Rec / AP

Mark Strong, Sr. talks with his attorney Dan Lilley after Justice Nancy Mills dropped most of the charges against Strong in January.

By Matthew DeLuca, Staff Writer, NBC News

Prosecutors in Maine will seek Wednesday to reinstate dozens of charges dropped against a man who is accused of helping a Zumba instructor run a prostitution ring from her studio in the seaside town of Kennebunk.

Forty-six misdemeanor counts against Mark Strong, Sr., 57, were dropped in January by Judge Nancy Mills, leaving 13 counts, including promotion of prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The judge decided to halt the trial pending an appeal of her decision to drop the charges, all of which have to do with invasion of privacy.

Dance instructor Alexis Wright is accused of using her Pura Vida Zumba studio as a front ? she?s been charged with 106 counts, including engaging in prostitution. She has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and is expected to go on trial later this year.

The charges of invasion of privacy against Wright and Strong are based on the accusation that Wright secretly videotaped herself engaging in sexual acts with her clients.

Accused Zumba pimp trial begins in disorder

Persons engaging in criminal acts do not have the same right to privacy enjoyed by other people, the trial judge said last month.

The alleged patrons ?may have had a subjective expectation of privacy, but I can?t find an objective expectation of privacy that society would be prepared to accept,? Mills said in court in January.

Prosecutors will seek to have those charges reinstated on Wednesday in Maine?s Supreme Judicial Court.

?The state?s position on this appeal is contrary to reason, common sense, and the interests of society,? defense attorney Dan Lilley wrote in a brief submitted on January 27.

Zumba prostitution case stalls in second week

Strong?s case in York County Superior Court was a puttering non-starter at the end of January, as jury selection that was expected to take a day dragged on a week, interrupted first by a case filed by a local newspaper to gain access to closed jury proceedings.

The trial was then?stopped entirely when the charges were dropped against Strong. Jury selection could begin quickly after the Maine high court?s ruling.

Attorneys for Wright filed an amicus brief in support of Strong in the Supreme Judicial Court on Feb. 4, stating that Wright has ?a vested interest in the resolution of this appeal.?

Videos / Releases: JR ? ?Action in Kesennuma, Japan? Lithograph

Back in November, French photograffeur?JR headed to Japan and toured the disaster area, furthering his Inside Out project in the area ? dedicated to the victims of the tsunami.? If you remember, one of the most poignant images from that trip was the pasting of the eyes of a local fisherman on a boat that was stranded and abandoned as the water receded. This piece has now been recreated as a?12 color lithograph (released here) along with a video documenting the creation process at the storied printing house that is still using the same machines that Picasso and Matisse used to make their prints on. As you know, JR is currently in Japan where his show at the Watarium Museum just opened (more on this soon).

UK royals condemn plans to publish Kate pictures

(AP) ? Royal officials in Britain have expressed disappointment that paparazzi shots of Prince William and his wife on a beach holiday in the Caribbean may be published by an Italian magazine.

St. James's Palace said Tuesday that publishing the photos would be a "clear breach of the couple's right to privacy."

The photos reportedly show the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge ? the former Kate Middleton ? wearing a bikini and strolling on a beach with William on the island of Mustique.

The Italian gossip magazine Chi was reportedly planning to publish the pictures.

Last year, William and Kate went to court over a French gossip magazine's publication of topless photos of the duchess while the couple was on holiday in the south of France.

Former Ala. hostage having 'hard time sleeping'

For the first time since his release from an underground Alabama bunker, 6-year-old Ethan and his mother, Jennifer Kirkland, have revealed new details about his six days as a hostage, telling TV-host Phil McGraw that he "has had a very hard time sleeping soundly."

Jimmy Lee Dykes, 65, abducted Ethan and held him in a 6-by-8-foot bunker 4 feet underground near Midland City, Ala. He had snatched the boy from a school bus after shooting the driver to death.

PHOTOS: Alabama Hostage Situation

The standoff ended after six days when Dykes engaged in a firefight with SWAT agents before they stormed the bunker and killed him.

Ethan and Kirkland sat down with McGraw ("Dr. Phil") for an exclusive one-on-one interview last week, in which they described Ethan's time underground with Dykes.

"We know for example that Mr. Dykes seemed to have some empathy for the child," McGraw told ABC News. "We do know that Mr. Dykes fried him chicken in the bunker to feed him and take care of him."

McGraw visited Ethan in Alabama two days after the daring rescue Feb. 4.

"He has said a few things," Kirkland said in the interview that will air on "The Dr. Phil Show" Wednesday. "Now I know that he has had a very hard time sleeping soundly. He slings his arms and tosses and turns. He's cried out a few times."

McGraw told ABC News that Ethan hasn't been back to school yet, and even the sight of a school bus seems to agitate him.

McGraw said his fixation on the school bus indicated that he associates it with something that was traumatic for him.

"The Dr. Phil Show" says it plans to follow up with Ethan and his mother to provide support and resources. The show also says the Dr. Phil Foundation is making a financial contribution to help support Ethan in the future.

Click here for photos from the Alabama hostage situation.

McGraw said he doesn't think Ethan truly has a grasp on what happened to him.

"From an adult perspective, [he doesn't]," McGraw said. "I think he understands that there was a very violent act, and it scared him greatly."

A very important component of battery life is the care the skipper takes. That makes answers to this question somewhat moot. Recharging, checking water levels, etc. is very important to battery life. Some skippers have solar, some generators, some only engines. It's really a hard question to answer the way you put it. With good maintenance, well over 3 years should be the norm, easily.

I bought 6 marine deep cycles (85 ah) from costco for $480, 510 ah total and this is my house bank. Solar and windgen, never run the diesel for charging, well maybe 10 times in the last 3 1/2 years. I wasnt sure what to expect from them but they've been great. I checked the fluid in them for the first time a couple months ago and added a pint total. When they do die I wanna add more ah's, so I'll look to see what better value is available. I have reefer, auto pilot, LCD/DVD tv, stero, LED nav lights.

A good lead acid battery will give you about 5 years of service under good conditions. I have seen some last 7 or 8 and some only 2 but 5 is the rule of thumb.

Where I work we have started using SAFT batteries instead of lead acid an they are projected to last over 10. One issue is the newer batteries pull a crap ton of amps when recharging compared to lead acid. If your charge rsystem is not up to the extra load many headache may result.

Had a pair of Trojan L-16's on my last boat that were used hard for 3-1/2 years (often more than 50% discharged) cruising anchoring most of the time. After that they still had enough life for liveaboard and weekend cruising for another 3 years. They never died catastrophically, but the capacity was very low at the end.

Varta starter 10 years.

Hella deep cycle 3+ years, Tudor Leisure 3+ years.

I bet the Hellas had some potential but I killed them with solar charging.
