This is the stuff of legend. Photographer Svend Lindbaek traveled to places as resonant as Cooperstown and the Smithsonian, as diverse as New Brunswick, Canada, and Beverly Hills, Calif., to document the following artifacts. There are balls and uniforms and clubs, of course, but also a trombone, a movie projector and a chicken. Some belong to museums, some to collectors, some to the athletes who used them. But each tells a story worth retelling, and taken together, these stories offer a panoramic view of sports. As Lindbaek says, ?Ali?s gloves, Secretariat?s saddle ? what a privilege. I felt like I was in a time machine.? Click here for a photo gallery. ?Read full story here on ESPN.com.
