I have always considered myself to been a healthy eater. Limiting? processed foods, choosing whole grains over the white stuff, and eating lots of fruits and vegetables. In the last five years though, after purchasing? ?The Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook? by Tosca Reno, I took it up a notch and embraced the ?eat clean? philosophy and principles. Which is basically eating as Mother Nature intended us to, food in it?s most natural state?or at least to the best of my ability, eating more often and being sure to include a carb, protein, and healthy fat at each meal.
Being a HUGE fan of Tosca Reno?s,? I was THRILLED to be given the opportunity to review her latest book ?The Eat-Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook?.
First off, I am not a vegetarian, I ?tried? to be many years ago, but that was before I knew how to substitute? proteins properly, so my body was lacking a lot of nutrients. However , I do like to feed my family ?meatless? meals a few times a week.
The book has over 150 recipes, broken into 10 Chapters
- A Healthy Start
- Snack Break
- Simple Salads
- Savory Soups & One Pot Meals
- The Main Course
- From the Sea
- Vivacious Vegetables & Sides
- Fast Foods
- Sweet Treats
- Vegetarian Holiday Feast
as well as supportive recipes for the following?.
- Yogurt cheese
- Clean marinara sauce
- Eat-Clean Cooking spray
- Whole wheat pizza dough
Many things impressed me with this cookbook?..
#1. I am a very visual person and most often will try a new recipe if there is a photo to go with it. So I was very pleased that ?The Eat-Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook? is FULL of bright, beautiful pictures.
#2.I like that there is a recipe legend at the beginning of the book, symbols helping you decipher? which recipes are vegan, lacto-ovo , ovo, gluten free or kid friendly, at a quick glance of a page. Also including a description of the different types of vegetarians.
#3. Tosca also included fish recipes for pescatarians, which I enjoyed, as my family likes seafood.
Within the pages of ?The Eat-Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook? Tosca also discusses topics on the following subjects, which I found all to be very interesting.
- ?Suit Yourself : Discussing the True Vegetarian and Semi ? Vegetarian Options
- ?The Lowdown in Legumes
- ?Macronutrients: the BIG Picture
- ?Thriving Vegetarian Cultures
- ?Top Protein Sources
- ?Pickling And Preserving
- ?Dehydration for Preservation
- ?How Healthy Are Vegan/Vegetarian Substitutes
In the last week alone, I have made the Roasted Red Pepper Minestrone Soup, the Broccoli ?Cheddar? Soup, the Pineapple Carrot Bread and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Backpack Kisses? from this cookbook, and was given double thumbs up for each one.
I think Tosca did it again with creating another AMAZING cookbook! If you are a vegetarian, or just wanting to add a few ?meatless? meals to your meal plan. I HIGHLY recommend ?The Eat-Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook?
