The Emerging Markets & International Affairs Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York supports two of the Bank's key objectives: fostering international financial stability and expanding international relationships.
Financial Markets and Institutions Function (FMI)
The Financial Markets and Institutions function (FMI) is responsible for analyzing developments in emerging market and selected G-10 financial systems, including such issues as banking sector condition and performance, supervision and regulation, and corporate governance. FMI also analyzes debt and equity market developments in countries under coverage, and works on projects encompassing a wide range of international financial issues. FMI analysts maintain extensive external relationships with members of the financial and official community, and regularly brief senior management on emerging market and advanced economy financial sector developments and policy issues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate developments affecting financial markets and institutions in emerging market and selected G-10 economies, with a view toward informing, supporting, and executing Federal Reserve policy and operating decisions
- Provide analytical support within the Bank and System on emerging market and selected G-10 financial system issues, including written reports, oral briefings, and financial system reviews in support of the supervision of foreign banking organizations in the U.S.
- Analyze capital market developments in emerging market and selected G-10 countries
- Undertake projects and long-term research on international financial system issues
- Maintain active contacts, including through periodic travel, with financial market participants, analysts and policy makers
- Perform related duties as required
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Public Policy with strong training in international economics and finance
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to analyze financial, economic and political developments and associated policy issues in emerging market and selected G-10 economies
- Proven ability to provide effective verbal and written analysis on a regular basis, including superior presentation skills
- Proven ability to balance multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with senior management and to develop and maintain market and governmental contacts
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and Bloomberg
- Foreign language skills, familiarity with country risk analysis, and regional expertise strongly preferred
- Candidates must be able to obtain U.S. security clearance
